3 year old Chevy Silverados with a little over 100k miles on the clock. They go for around $25k, would you even consider one? Post examples if you want, for some reason I’m getting kinja’d on the links

I test drove a few before I bought a 2013 F150 for a little under 25k with 60k on the clock. Haven’t had any issues.

Way too high. We have a 2011 Sierra at my work that we bought it 35kmi on it in 2014? pretty sure it was 14. Paid 23k.

That seems high for a truck with 100K on it.

Yeah, I’d say it’s a bit over priced. What’s the trim level options though? Highest end “probably should have a GMC badge on it” level of options?

I bought my ‘14 new and it has almost 75k on it. I have had exactly zero issues with it. It’s a 5.3 2WD. I do plenty of towing and rough desert road driving with it. Great truck, I’d definitely buy another one.

That said, I don’t think my truck is worth more than $20k

Nope, LT cloth seats is the nicest. That’s why I was curious that I was missing something

Truck prices are stupid but that seems high. My mom just bought a 2011 Sierra with 67k miles on it for $20k.

I’m not sure if my update to the first comment went through. But here’s why I say it costs too much:

Used 2014 GMC Sierra C/K1500 4x4 Double Cab SLE CompareSave

Yeah, I saw those and couldn’t believe that it was only $1000 less for double the mileage. I’d rather not buy new since I’d like to run it into the ground

Dad just bought a blue 2015 with 20k miles listed for 32k. v8, double cab, z71, big infotainment screen, spray on bedliner. He likes it.

Edit: Mom said they’re offering 17% off list for new ones right now.

Yeah, it’s crazy. Past 60k the price plateaus and stays around $25k

I’d not get a used GM truck with direct injection

people doesnt know that these truck NEEDS an oil catch can and the valves got cook / stuck.

you can get a new double cab for 27k ish, Crew cab maybe 31k ?

wait till they have it on sale for 10k or 12k off... happens once or twice a year ?

if you have 25k and needs a truck NOW, you can get a REALLY NICE 2013

All I know is, as soon as I have my first kid on the way, I’m going to Canada to take advantage of their low truck prices and get a bare-bones turbodiesel crew cab. I don’t care what brand; it lasts longer, looks better, does more, and just has more room than a minivan.

That said, I’m getting it new. The resale value is ridiculously high, so I’d rather spend the extra 5-10 grand and get another 100k miles out of it... and then sell it for a ridiculously high amount anyway.

That is an outrageous amount of money for a truck with that many miles

Yeah, I don’t need it right away but my wife wants me to buy and not lease so I’m poking around getting used prices for cars and trucks I’d actually want to drive for 10+ years

the new GM Twins (2015+) are perfectly fine, the v8 engines are awesome with excellent power / tq. interior is awesome

just make sure you budget for a $200 catch can to catch all the oil that doesnt get burnt from direct injection

Used full sized trucks are a bad way to go because the resale values are so high. Especially when you can get such great rebate/dealer incentives on new ones. My 2013 f150 had a window sticker of 39000 I paid 28000.

P.s I live in DFW and truck incentives might be larger here I really don’t know

I sold my turbodiesel to buy a gas truck. It’s all fun and games and torque until repair bills start happening, $1k+ for stock injectors, $1k+ for a fuel pump, $200 oil changes, etc.

A little higher but I’m in farm country Ohio, truck incentives are pretty ridiculous. I thought with all the crazy incentives that the used ones would be lower. Blows my mind what they want for a used one.

That’s how I felt to when looking for a truck. I’ve always purchased my vehicles used because I love it when the first owner has to take that huge hit. But when I went looking for used trucks I was wondering whats the point.

$25k could buy a *really nice* late model, low mile GMT900 if you’re willing to live with an interior that isn’t as nice. I bought my 2010 Silverado with 113k on it for $14.5k before trade. I personally prefer how the GMT900s drive over the K2s but that’s just me.
